About the Hotel, Motel & Accommodation Association (HMAA)
HMAA aims to protect and advance the interests of its accommodation members at local, state and federal government levels as well as on issues relating to the operational needs of the accommodation industry.
HMAA in Victoria operates within the Tourism and Events Industry Unit of the Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI). VECCI is Australia's largest and most influential chamber of commerce and Victoria's peak employer group, servicing more than 25,000 businesses per annum. It was started by the business community to represent and support business and is an independent, not-for-profit, non-government body.
The power behind the HMAA in Victoria, VECCI manages all operations of the Alliance and supports approximately 1600 tourism businesses in Victoria.
Object
HMAA's objective is to provide a professional service to the industry in Victoria and encourage excellence in service among the providers of all types of accommodation, in the interests of members' prosperity and growth.
Goals
- To promote and increase the benefits of membership
- To ensure the industry has a strong and united voice to represent its interests in areas such as industrial relations, accommodation taxes etc
- To work with all levels of government for the benefit of members
- To nurture and develop HMAA regions to establish a local networking system that addresses regional accommodation operators needs
- To build the image and reputation of the association
- To work with other hospitality industry bodies for the benefit of members
- To work with suppliers of products and services to the accommodation industry
- To obtain discounted prices for products and services for members.

Victorian Bushfire Business Investment Fund
The Victorian Bushfire Business Investment Fund is a $10 million Commonwealth and Victorian government stimulus package to create new jobs and attract business investment in communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
Under the $10 million fund, new businesses can apply for grants of between $50,000 and $4 million with the grants also available to support the expansion of existing businesses.
The Victorian Bushfire Business Investment Fund is part of the $193 million Rebuilding Together state-wide plan for bushfire rebuilding and recovery.
