Modern Awards -Transitional Arrangements, Wages & Penalties
Why we developed this program
It is vital that employers understand the complexities of employing staff in the current Industrial landscape. From 1 January 2010, Modern Awards have covered most Australian workplaces. Accordingly, the terms and conditions of employment contained in the Modern Award(s) have generally applied in full from that date. Included in the majority of Modern Awards, however, are transitional provisions relating to pay, loadings and penalties, which may affect the minimum rates payable.
The premise of transitioning, or phasing, to the Modern Awards is to minimise the cost impact (or conversely a reduction in pay) where there is a difference between the old rates and the new system rates. As such, employers have (in most cases) a 5 year period to ‘phase’ in the new rates into the new national system. This award course is run to assist employers understand their obligations and options under the Model Phasing Provisions which are found in the majority of awards.
VECCI's Award Modernisation workshops will help employers comply with Award entitlements, and help you understand your minimum obligations for the workplace relations regulations that have existed from 1 January 2010.
