Victoria's Parliament is now considering the most extensive changes to Victoria's compensation laws since the Kennett government reforms of 1992. Three hundred pages of amended law will commence to apply on April 5th with even further changes commencing on 1st July.
- Payroll staff will need to implement new benefit levels from April 5th.
- Return to work coordinators will need to have new processes and practices in place by 1st July.
- Human resource departments administering claims need to be aware of new claim processes, new exclusions on stress claims and new claims management processes and a whole new inspection regime.
To assist business to understand and implement these changes, VECCI is providing briefings to inform businesses of the changes and what they need to do now to move seamlessly from the current to the new. Most of the penalties under the current legislation will be increased from fivefold to tenfold.
