Why we developed this program
Employers face risk every day in running a business. Any risk can present a threat to viability, profitability or reputation to your business. Those who see issues are often reluctant to come forward. This course provides an introduction to the legislative requirements and the principles that support privacy and confidentiality, Whistleblowers and fraud awareness from a Human Resources perspective. This workshop also provides an opportunity to explore some of the practical implications organisations face when it comes to these matters via the use of relevant case studies.

What will be covered
- An introduction to the Privacy Act 1988, Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001 (public sector), Corporations Act 2001 (private sector) and fraud awareness
- Good practice elements when handling private and confidential information in the workplace, eg medical information, investigation records, etc
- Identification of some of the more common risks present in organisations when it comes to fraud and what steps can be taken to mitigate them
- In relation to Whistleblowers, in this section of the workshop we will explore
- The Ombudsman's Guidelines
- Essential elements of Whistleblower Policy and Procedure
- Some identified challenges and steps towards better Whistleblower programs
- Reflection on practical implications for your organisation
