1-Day OHS Extension Course for Managers and Supervisors

WorkSafe has recently approved a 6-Day OHS Course for Managers and Supervisors and is encouraging all Managers and Supervisors to attend this program to be able to fully understand their duties and responsibilities under the OHS Act 2004 and OHS Regulations 2007.

Those Managers and Supervisors who have previously completed the 5-Day OHS Course for Health and Safety Representatives can, however, undertake this one-day extension course to update their knowledge and skills thus enabling them to fulfil their duties and responsibilities under the OHS Act 2004 and the OHS Regulations 2007.

As a manager or supervisor who has recently attended a 5 day initial level OHS training course for Health and Safety Representatives, this course will extend your knowledge and provide you with a basic understanding of your role and legal duties, consultation, issues resolution and the importance of providing OHS information, instruction, training, support and supervision.

Who should attend

This course should be attended by managers, particularly line managers, supervisors, safety officers, health and safety committee members, human resource officers/managers and anyone else with the responsibility for, or an involvement in, OHS who has attended a 5 day initial level OHS training course for Health and Safety Representatives.

What will be covered

This training course has been designed to enhance the information and skills recently acquired by providing you with information about:

• The roles and legal duties of managers and supervisors;
• Understanding the skills of consultation, active listening, issue resolution and how to be proactive in the workplace to help you achieve your organisation's OHS and Return to Work objectives;
• Determining, implementing and monitoring OHS control measures; and
• The importance of providing employees with information, instruction, training, support and supervision.
