Rod Thomson, Licensed Estate Agent and REIV Accredited Business Broker

Rod Thomson studied Agriculture Science at Roseworthy in South Australia and Melbourne University, and gained a Master of Management from RMIT in 1981. He has worked as an Agriculture Consultant, Operations Manager of Union Bulkships (a shipping company jointly owned by TNT and Union Steamship Company of New Zealand), and Personal Assistant to the National Stores Director of Myer Stores from 1982 to 1987.

In 1987, Rod became the owner operator of a hotel/motel/conference centre in Eildon. After the sale of the business he was appointed as General Manager of Geotrack International, a high-tech Geological Consulting Company, founded by Melbourne University academics/researchers.

In 1996, Rod decided to utilise acquired skills and resources and became a business broker. In 2009 he joined VECCI to establish VECCI’s Business Broking Unit
As a business broker, Rod has promoted and sold business in different market segments, including:

• Manufacturing; including Swan Lake Pavlova Pty Ltd.
• Wholesale/retail; including Burge Plumbing in Swan Hill.
• Metropolitan hotel/motels; including Beaumond International Hotel.
• Reception/function centres; including Leonda On The Yarra.
• Conference centres; including Cope-Williams Winery and Conference Centre. 

More recently, Rod specialised in the hospitality industry as a broker and consultant/advisor and mediator to businesses, including lease negotiations.

Shirley Ng, Business Broker

Shirley Ng is a licensed Business Broker as well as an International Business Development Manager with VECCI Global. Shirley has extensive experience in the business environment, working in a variety of roles assisting Australian businesses to expand into international markets.

Working in a diverse range of business types and industries at both strategic and operational levels, Shirley has developed, managed and administered a range of strategic export marketing programs aimed at assisting businesses to achieve business and export sustainability.

Throughout her career, Shirley has worked with many Australian businesses to develop and implement a range of marketing and sales strategies designed to achieve business growth. Shirley’s industry experience ranges from manufacturing, wholesale, and distribution to franchise businesses.
