About the Victoria Tourism and Industry Council (VTIC)
VTIC was formed in July 2001 as the umbrella organisation for the tourism industry in Victoria following the lapse of the former Tourism Council of Australia.
The industry took the view that VTIC should focus on tourism in Victoria, be free of direct Government funding and influence, and that it required a high-profile Chairperson and industry spokesperson.
Vision
"VTIC be recognised and acknowledged by the State Government, industry and other key stakeholders as the major representative of the Victorian tourism industry."
Purpose
"VTIC will represent the tourism industry to State Government, provide leadership to Victoria's tourism industry on industry specific issues, and raise the profile of the industry with the public, private sector and to the community generally.
It is acknowledged that VTIC's role is with industry-wide tourism issues and that individual council member associations will continue to represent their sector interests and ensure the sustainability of their associations.
