Today’s opening of a new $4 million Domestic Terminal at Avalon and a 40 percent increase in Jetstar flights is great news for regional tourism, says VTIC.

Starting from next April, Jetstar will increase Avalon return services from 10 to 14 daily, flying more frequently to Sydney and Brisbane and continuing daily flights to Perth and Adelaide.

VTIC Chairman Jeremy Johnson says these developments will assist in boosting Victoria’s capacity to adequately service the growing business and leisure tourism market and speed the dispersal of tourists into regional Victoria.

"For example, these developments will mean that it is more likely that interstate visitors will take up Great Ocean Road fly and drive packages," says Mr Johnson.

Background - what is VTIC

The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) is the peak policy council for the Victorian tourism industry, which represents key industry associations and operators, providing one united industry voice.
