The Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association (Vic) last week announced the appointment of a new Chair, Mr Julian Clark.
Mr Clark is the current CEO of The Lancemore Group; a family owned and managed business and one of the largest high-end hotel operators in regional Victoria. Mr Clark has extensive experience in the accommodation industry with three iconic properties across regional Victoria – Lancemore Hill at Macedon Ranges, Lindenderry at Red Hill and Lindenwarrah at Milawa. His background includes roles in corporate strategy and marketing for banking and finance businesses across Sydney and London.
Mr Clark replaces Mr Steve Finlayson, who has served as Chair for the past year. “I have been proud to serve as Chair of the HMAA and progress the key issues facing the accommodation industry. I wish Julian all the best.” says Mr Finlayson. “Steve has been an outstanding Chair of the HMAA and has been integral in promoting excellence within the accommodation industry and championing the issues of importance to HMAA members,” says Executive Officer of HMAA, Ms Anita Donnelly.
“The accommodation sector has had a challenging year in Victoria with bushfires, swine flu and the global financial crisis hitting some within the industry hard. “I look forward to working with Julian to provide information, support and advocacy to the HMAA membership to help them grow and prosper over the course of 2010 and beyond,” says Ms Donnelly.
“The accommodation industry is a valuable contributor to the state economy and creator of jobs – I look forward to advocating on behalf of members for measures to assist the industry further improve its performance,” says Mr Clark.
HMAA is recognised as the leading industry body in the accommodation sector within Australia. HMAA represents accommodation based establishments ranging from 5 star hotels and motels to Bed and Breakfasts adding up to a membership base of more than 2,000 properties in Australia.
