A new Victoria Small Business Council has been formed within VECCI to bring small business-specific issues to the fore.
“VECCI is a very broad church, representing all kinds of businesses in every sector, from micro businesses to major global corporates”, says VECCI CEO Mr Wayne Kayler-Thomson.
“Small business needs a different kind of representation to major corporates, especially in relation to the at times overwhelming burden of compliance with government regulations.
“The Victoria Small Business Council will provide VECCI with the opportunity to gather current, relevant and practical input and feedback from leaders within the small business community.
“The Council will be an important advisory group to identify issues to guide our advocacy, representation and business services development.
“The Council will also assist in scoping Victoria University’s research program on emerging SME issues that will complement VECCI's policy and advocacy agenda, including our work leading up to the 2009 VECCI Victoria Summit.
“The Council is chaired by Noel Reid, General Manager of Bill Lang International and comprises up to 15 SMEs representing the diversity of Victoria’s small business sector”, says VECCI CEO, Mr Wayne Kayler-Thomson.
The Victoria Small Business Council meets three times per annum at the offices of VECCI.
It held its first meeting in May – today’s meeting will feature as a special guest Small Business Minister the Hon Joe Helper MP.
