The commencement of construction on the expansion of Melbourne Airport will provide ongoing benefits to the Victorian tourism industry, says VTIC. 

“A high quality, secure and efficient airport is vital to ensure Victoria’s tourism industry can compete with domestic and international travel destinations”, says VTIC Chairman Mr Jeremy Johnson. 

“Passengers arriving and departing Melbourne Airport will benefit from a new passenger precinct which will provide world class security, customs and retail features, making travel to and from Victoria safer, easier and more enjoyable.

“This expansion will ensure that Melbourne Airport is the leading airport in Australia and will be a wonderful gateway for tourists to start and end their travel in Victoria, leading to increased satisfaction for visitors to a range of local tourism providers.

“I congratulate Melbourne Airport on the commencement of the expansion and look forward to the completion of the project in 2011”, says Mr Johnson.
