The decision by Viva Macau to add an additional Melbourne weekly flight is a welcome boost for Melbourne Airport, says VTIC.
“Direct flights are invaluable to our local economy as they facilitate the flow of tourists and business travelers through Melbourne more quickly and efficiently,” says VTIC Chairman, Mr Jeremy Johnson.
“In years gone by too many international flights have gone directly to Sydney, which then means travelers need to take a domestic connecting flight to get to Melbourne – adding cost and time to their trip.
“Gaining additional direct flights can also be partly attributed to Melbourne Airport’s curfew-free status.
“Congratulations again to Melbourne Airport for their work in securing additional direct flight services to Melbourne – flights such of these are of considerable benefit to the local tourism industry and the broader Victorian economy,” says Mr Johnson.
