VTIC - Victoria Tourism Industry Council

Victoria Tourism Industry Council

VTIC was formed in July 2001 as the' umbrella' organisation for the tourism industry in Victoria following the lapse of the former Tourism Council of Australia.

The industry took the view that VTIC should focus on tourism in Victoria, be free of direct Government funding and influence, and that it required a high-profile Chairperson and industry spokesperson.

Vision
"VTIC be recognised and acknowledged by the State Government, industry and other key stakeholders as the major representative of the Victorian tourism industry."

Purpose
"VTIC will represent the tourism industry to State Government, provide leadership to Victoria's tourism industry on industry specific issues, and raise the profile of the industry with the public, private sector and to the community generally.

It is acknowledged that VTIC's role is with industry-wide tourism issues and that individual council member associations will continue to represent their sector interests and ensure the sustainability of their associations.

Tourism and Events Strategy 2016

The Tourism and Events Strategy 2016 has been developed by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council in partnership with the Victoria Events Industry Council on behalf of the industry.
The Strategy complements and supports the Victorian Government's 10-year Tourism and Events Industry Strategy, and follows on from the 2002-2006 Victoria Tourism Industry Strategic Plan, developed by Tourism Victoria.

The Strategy demonstrates the commitment of Victoria's tourism industry to further sustainable growth and development through a focus on strategic, State-wide issues, and presents a fresh approach to developing and maintaining positive partnerships between industry and Government, and within the tourism industry itself.

If you would like more information about the launch event, please contact Deputy CEO, Bindi Gove on Ph: 03 8662 5170
