Building a Skilled Workforce: Australian Apprenticeship Facts

Australian and State Governments are committed to providing support and incentives to employers to offer Australian Apprenticeships which are a valuable tool to assist them in meeting their labour and skill needs.

Australian Apprenticeships bring together traditional trade apprenticeships and traineeships under one service to simplify the process of registration, funding and administration for employers.

The main benefit of an Australian Apprenticeships is that it combines paid work with accredited training leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

Financial Support

There are many financial incentives available to employers who recruit an Australian Apprentice. These incentives are intended to help offset the cost of training.

The Australian Governments financial incentives are paid direct to employers who recruit Australian Apprentices that meet certain eligibility criteria.

This provides employers with the flexibility to choose the best training options to meet their business needs.

To support the recruitment of Australian Apprentices from groups that have traditionally been underemployed or under represented in trades, the Australian Government offers additional incentives and assistance.
