The aim of the Business Industry School to Work Alliance is to
facilitate the implementation of the Ministerial Council for Employment
Education Training and Youth Affairs elements of:

Career education in Schools

General Employability skills and life-long Learning

New Apprenticeships for school students

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools
Build best practice alliances between Australian business
and industry, business management bodies and the Department of
Education, Science and Training (DEST)
Purpose
To develop strong partnerships between business and the education
sectors.To raise local and regional awareness of the potential of
young Australians to enhance productivity and profitability through
active involvement outside the classroom
Action
The aim is to be driven by ACCI's school and industry policy that
highlights education and training system that is:

demand driven
-
meets industry needs
-
enables all Australians to reach their potential

meets the Australian long and short term economic goals

enables Australians to compete successfully in the global
Scope
ACCI and DEST will work to support activities that are consistent with the DEST Industry Engagement Strategy.

Address specific areas of activity defined under the MCEETYA Framework

Build business and industry engagement to support the implementation of the MCEETYA Framework
-
Identify and support policy change relevant to the appropriate industry sector through involvement in appropriate forums
-
Broker alliances with other relevant stakeholders, (including, young Australians, parents, Parents and Friends' Associations and school Principals)
-
Raise young Australians' awareness of and practical exposure to the income producing potential and career choices relevant to that organisation; and
-
Increase industry and/or regional economies' recognition of the potential to enhance productivity and profitability through active involvement in learning beyond the classroom activities for young Australians
