New VECCI North East Regional Manager appointed
6/11/2004 1:28:25 AM

VECCI has appointed a new manager in the North East region - Ms Helen O'Neill.

"VECCI has developed a renewed structure for the delivery of services in regional Victoria, and this new appointment will drive member service in North East Victoria", says VECCI State Manager - Regions, Mr Rob Lucas.

"North East Victoria is an important part of VECCI's regional network and Helen's appointment to this new role signals a continued commitment by VECCI to regional members and to the broader business community, particularly when other bodies are pulling out of the regions.

"Helen brings a wealth of experience to VECCI and has an outstanding practical knowledge of local business needs, having worked in roles covering human resources and industrial relations, quality management, marketing, training, business and executive coaching and risk management. This experience was gained in an extensive range of industries, including hospitality, tourism, clubs, local government, cleaning, viticulture, manufacturing, health, family and children's services and the media.

"Helen has also owned and operated her own businesses, managed businesses and departments and consulted to a number of businesses both large and small, giving her an excellent insight into the needs and the constant challenges facing business operators.

"Growing up on a dairy farm in South Gippsland, Helen learned a strong work ethic from her extended family. She also has a strong customer service philosophy and is committed to adding value to members businesses through timely advice and delivery of services."

"She believes moving to the North East fifteen years ago was one of the smartest things she has done. Residing in Wangaratta for the past three-and-a-half years and working extensively across Central and North East Victoria, she has developed a strong appreciation of the issues facing her region.

"This appointment comes at a time when VECCI's voice and influence is now stronger than ever, having won for its members significant benefits in the Victorian Government's April Economic Statement. These include land tax and WorkCover premium reductions and infrastructure projects - improvements important to regional businesses that we have been lobbying for since the 2002 State election campaign.

"North East Victoria is an important region for VECCI - Helen and I look forward to helping North East region businesses meet the challenges presented over the next financial year and beyond", says Mr Lucas.
