HMAA welcomes Federal IR Reforms
5/30/2005 5:15:38 AM
The peak body for Victoria’s accommodation providers, the Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association of Victoria (HMAAV), has welcomed the Federal Government’s package of industrial relations reforms.

“These reforms have the potential to make a positive impact on businesses in the accommodation sector”, says HMAAV Chairman, Mr Harry Korpetutuncu.

“The reformed unfair dismissal laws will provide more incentives for employers to take on new employees in a sector dominated by small businesses - at least 99 percent of HMAA members employ less than 100 persons.

“Furthermore, the proposed simplification of awards and streamlined agreement making processes will also increase flexibility in terms of working hours and penalty rates”, says Mr Korpetutuncu.
