Jayco investment a boost to Victorian manufacturing sector
5/19/2006 2:05:34 AM
Today’s announcement of Melbourne as the location for Jayco’s new national head office and a state-of-the-art industrial complex will provide a boost to economic and jobs growth in Victoria and reinforce Melbourne’s status as an attractive destination for corporate headquarters, says VECCI.

Jayco’s $35 million investment in the south-eastern suburb of Lyndhurst will generate 150 new jobs immediately, including 25 new apprenticeships and traineeships, and follows major jobs announcements this year from Tenix, Jetstar and Ford.

"Jayco and the Victorian Government should be congratulated for pursuing this strategic investment", says VECCI Chief Executive Officer, Mr Neil Coulson.

"This investment will not only provide 150 immediate direct jobs at the plant, but 150-200 direct construction jobs and a similar number of indirect construction jobs.

"The investment also represents a boost to the confidence of the Victorian manufacturing sector", says Mr Coulson.
