VECCI has established an associated legal practice, CCI Victoria Legal, which will offer competitively-priced employment and industrial law advice to Victorian business.
"CCI Victoria Legal will bolster VECCI’s employment and IR service offering - and offer more sophisticated assistance to Victorian employers in meeting the challenges of a new workplace relations era brought about by the recent WorkChoices legislation", says VECCI Chief Executive Officer, Mr Neil Coulson.
"Over the past decade, many Australian companies have turned away from employer groups and towards top-end industrial lawyers for advice and representation on industrial issues as the issues have become more complex.
"We believe that there is space in the marketplace for high-quality but competitively-priced employment and industrial legal advice and representation.
"CCI Victoria Legal will provide legal advice and representation to VECCI members and non-members across a full range of employment related matters including:
-
employment terms and conditions, including Australian Workplace Agreements
-
employee and union disputes and litigation
-
equal opportunity and anti-discrimination matters
-
employment termination, including redundancy, contract disputes and unfair dismissal
-
employment aspects of mergers, acquisitions and outsourcing
"The new service offering will be underpinned by the continued provision of current services such those provided by VECCI’s workplace consultants and the Member Information Service (call centre), which services 60,000 member queries per annum.
"The Principal of CCI Victoria Legal is Peter Vitale, who has more than 13 years experience practising in employment law and has advised some of the most prominent Australian and international employers. Before setting up CCI Victoria Legal, Peter was a partner at a major international law firm, Baker and Mackenzie. Peter will be joined by former colleague, Vicki Moulatsiotis, who has been practising in legal and human resources roles for eight years and will take up the position of Senior Associate.
"As an independent legal practice, CCI Victoria Legal will provide high quality employment law solutions at rates which will compare most favourably with other high quality providers who members may already be using.
"CCI Victoria Legal opens for business on Monday 3 July 2006", says Mr Coulson.
