The appointment of Tim Holding as Tourism Minister is welcomed by the Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC).
“Tim Holding comes to the tourism portfolio after starting his Ministerial career in a business-related portfolio as Minister for Manufacturing and Export”, says VTIC Chair, Mr Jeremy Johnson.
“Minister Holding built strong links with industry in that portfolio and we look forward to resuming our good relationship with him.
“Retiring Tourism Minister John Pandazopoulos is to be congratulated on a job well done - he was an exceptionally well regarded Tourism Minister, having built the industry’s trust and respect from when he assumed the tourism portfolio at the outset of the Bracks Government in 1999.
“During his tenure as Minister, the size of the industry and the resourcing of the sector grew substantially, in recognition of tourism’s growing value to the Victorian economy.
“A particular achievement was the increased focus on developing regional tourism destinations and his personal leadership of international trade missions to promote Victorian destinations overseas.
“More recently, he was a champion of the Government’s Ten Year Tourism and Events Industry Strategy.
“We look forward to working with Minister Holding who will no doubt build on John’s good work”, says Mr Johnson.
