The Victorian Government’s $100 million tourism package will be of assistance to the Victorian tourism sector, says VTIC.
"Tourism businesses in certain regions have been severely affected by the drought, whether via a reduction in local spend or tourists staying away by reason of actual or even perceived lack of water", says VTIC Chairman Jeremy Johnson.
"Even some regions with adequate water have suffered tourism declines because of visitor perceptions that could be corrected by more effective marketing at a State Government level.
"Today’s initiatives surrounding skills transfer, business advice and support and tourism marketing support have been advocated by us and will be of assistance.
"It is important that tourism marketing funds be put to use immediately as bookings for summer holidays are being made now", says Mr Johnson.
